Ron Dyck
Ph.D. (Social Psychology), University of Alberta
Ron brings over 40 years of executive, senior management and Assistant Deputy Minister experience in public, academic and not-for-profit sectors.
His proven ability to engage in such areas as science, innovation, health, and refugee and immigrant services has enabled him to assist a diverse range of clients through strategic planning, policy development, program evaluation and sustainable solution development for identified challenges.
Ron is an active volunteer with the Canadian Peacemakers International that delivers education (grades 7-9) to learners in marginalized communities in Honduras.
Michael Leung
Ph.D. (Biophysics), Western University; MBA, Ivey School of Business
Executive management experience (30+ years – Nortel, Bell, SaskTel, TRLabs) and teaching experience (10+ years – MacEwan University, U. of Lethbridge, U. of Regina, Western U.) in strategic management and supply chain management – putting theories into practice and vice-versa.
Forged domestic and international S&T collaborations among industry, academic institutions, and government agencies, including projects involving Lucent & MCI (USA), Samsung (S. Korea), China Rail (China), NECTEC (Thailand) and TechnoBridge (Singapore). Supported 100+ small and medium enterprises in technology commercialization, operations improvement, and international market entry.
Consulted with post-secondary institutions in planning and performance evaluation of innovation centres.
Doug Maley
BA Honours (Economics) and M.Sc. (Agricultural Economics), University of Saskatchewan
Doug brings 39 years of Federal and Provincial Government experience of which 34 years were in executive positions.
Doug has 17 years as Assistant Deputy Minister in Western Economic Diversification (WD) – 13 years in Alberta and 4 years in Saskatchewan.
Has wide range of experience in the agriculture and food sectors, economic development and diversification, and implementation of many scientific-base industrial projects and strategic initiatives.
Jim Saunderson
BA (Honours) Political Science, Carleton University
Jim brings 36 years of public sector experience in the federal government including serving as Assistant Deputy Minister and Chief Financial Officer for Western Economic Diversification.
His wide-ranging experience includes policy and programming in economic development and other areas of public administration with a demonstrated commitment to building relationships across governments, business and academia.
Jim completed the Canada School of Public Service’s Advanced Leadership Program. He is a proud member of the Rotary Club of Edmonton and the University of Alberta Senate.
Mel Wong
BA (Economics), University of Lethbridge; Management Development Certificate, University of Lethbridge; Management Development Certificate, University of British Columba
Mel has over 40 years experience in decision making and senior executive positions. His background includes private sector operations, federal civil service, university and polytechnic institutions, provincial government (including Assistant Deputy Minister) and President and CEO of a not-for-profit industry/technology association.
He has had significant experience with small business development, industry advocacy, economic policy and program development, international business negotiations as well as over 30 years in attracting corporate investments and venture capital.
He currently participates on health industry boards and post-secondary and science and research advisory committees.
David Woynorowski
B. Comm (Accounting/Finance), University of Alberta
Over the last 35 years David has held senior management and executive positions in the federal government (Director General, Western Economic Diversification) and in industry as the President and CEO of DRW Advisory Group Inc.
With a background in accounting and finance and a focus on economic development and diversification, David has provided technology commercialization, marketing, financing and other services to support the growth of industry, academia, not-for-profit organizations and business associations.
David enjoys a diverse range of interests including municipal government, organic farming, volunteering in his local community and serving as the federal returning officer (Elections Canada) for Peace River – Westlock.
